Pharmaceutical Technology Course in UniKL RCMP

Assalamualaikum and good evening everyone ! 😊😊

It's almost the end of Ramadhan for 2019 while I'm writing this post. Before that, I would like to introduce my background. I am a Bsc. of Science (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Technology in UniKL RCMP, Ipoh. Currently I'm in my final year ( Semester 5) and Final Year Project is haunting me non stop. 😩😩😩

Ok, so what the hell is Pharmaceutical Technology is all about? OK when I first enter this course, I did not know much about it either even after the explanation given by the course leader(lecturer related to this field). He explained quite well, but it still does not satisfy my need for the right answer. This course is quite new in Malaysia and it focuses more on the industrial formulation and production. So does it the same as engineering? Pharmacy course?? Before you ask me that question, the answer is NO!!!!!!

What is the difference man?! Ok, just think like this. Engineering can be categorized into many things and IDK any of it either. HAHAHA. Ok, don't mad. I'm just testing with your focus here. Engineering basically focus more on the machine while us, we focus more on the formulation and the production. Simple example, PANADOL. You know panadol? Yeah we are working behind the background for the formulation of any drug, cosmetic and neutraceuticals. Isn't it FUN? Yeah fun otak you. It sounds fun, but it is complicated. I am not trying to scare you but every course have their difficulties which only their students understand, isn't it? So, fair and square. So the parents can stop wishing their children to be a doctor la, pharmacist la or whatever courses presentable out there. Parents stop ok? Just let us be whatever we want to be.. except for drug dealer la.. Don't do drug ok people.

Ok, let's back to Pharmaceutical Technology. This course is for 3 years and a half (7 semester). 3 years basically focus on the fundamental of the course. Which means duduk dalam kelas dan belajar. Another half year is internship at the industry that related to our course. I am the first batch of this course, I only heard a few listed company which I will be entering next year. Some of it located Kedah, Kelantan, Selangor, Melaka and Johor. So , I only focus more on Selangor area since I live in Kuala Lumpur. Selangor basically focus on Shah Alam and Kajang area if I'm not mistaken.

The division of the subject per semester is quite relax on the early year. Yeah, they focus on the subject like Tamadun Islam dan blabalbla (TITAS) Sorry, I forgot the subject full name. From there, it will go deeper and deeper. The subject you learn in previous semester will be related to the next semester. Yeah, I'm not kidding. The terms Fick's Law, First order and Second and so on. I am a credit transfer student from diploma in Pharmacy from UniKL. So, I get to skip 1 semester of subject. So, if you are diploma students from another university, they will check your previous course subject first to find either you are suitable for the credit transfer. So, please bring your diploma notes either in hard copy or soft copy during the first and second semester. Keep it well organized from one subject to another subject.

For credit transfer student like me, we were in our honeymoon until our third semester. For foundation student, no credit transfer for you. I think yours probably hectic from the second semester. Entering the 4th semester, it was hectic no joke. Every day we will have lab session. Yeah, it is fun. Wait until the post-lab. You will need to finish the lab report for every lab you've done. HAHAHAHA. But it is fun I tell you. The lab session. The current semester I'm in right now is the time is hectic towards the end of the semester. Every subject suddenly give tons of assignment during the last month of our semester. I advice you, START EARLY. Do not wait until the due date ! You are currently unaware of the incoming wave of another assignment ! Plus, the Final Year Project (FYP) some more ! FYP will haunt you for a year, ok? (2 semester)

Anyway, good luck for everyone who read this no matter what course you prefer.
